TerraTrade vs TradeZella for Journaling

TradeZella leads the category in breadth. Here's where TerraTrade's FIFO engine, MAE/MFE, and grounded AI win — and where 500+ brokers still matter.

TerraTrade vs TradeZella journaling comparison cover

TradeZella is the best-known trading journal on the market, and it earned that: wide broker coverage, deep analytics, a real community. If you're choosing where your trading history is going to live for the next few years, this is the comparison worth doing carefully — because the two products make different bets about what a journal is for.

What happens when a trade imports#

Most journal comparisons start at the dashboard. We'd start one step earlier, because everything downstream inherits the quality of the import.

Every fill that enters TerraTrade goes through one FIFO matching engine — longs, shorts, partial fills, position reversals, options sell-to-open as a first-class case — and P&L comes out exact to the cent. Every trade gets MAE/MFE computed automatically from full-resolution market data, so "how much heat did I take" is a number on every trade, not a report you run later. And imports are idempotent: re-run a sync or re-upload a file as many times as you like, and you can never duplicate a trade. Broker imports reach back up to 15 years.

TradeZella's import story is genuinely strong in a different direction: 500+ broker integrations with automated sync, against our nine (seven auto-sync, two by file, plus CSV for everything else). If your broker is on their list and not ours, that's a real point for them and you should count it. What their public documentation doesn't describe is how matching handles partials and reversals, or whether re-imports are duplicate-safe — questions worth asking any journal before you trust it with years of fills.

Analytics: 300 reports vs 35 that cross-examine you#

TradeZella ships 300+ analytics reports across 7 dashboard views — expectancy, best/worst days, top setups, bad-habit detection — plus the Zella Score, a proprietary 100-point rating built on consistency, win/loss ratio, and trade quality. On sheer report count, they win, plainly.

TerraTrade's bet is different: 35 reports that can be cross-examined, not scrolled. Any of ~20 breakdown dimensions can be crossed against another in heatmaps — setup × time of day, symbol × day of week — and the 57-widget drag-and-drop dashboards let you build the exact view you review from. The Terra Score grades you on 6 explicit axes instead of one blended number, so when it drops you can see which axis dropped. Trade details carry risk plans with R-multiples, half-star ratings, up to 50 tags, and screenshots; the daily journal draws position-aware intraday P&L curves; and the notebook takes voice notes with automatic transcription — talk through the session on the drive home, read it back searchable later. Universal ⌘K search covers all of it.

The AI layer#

Both products meter AI by monthly credits, so compare the caps directly: TerraTrade includes 1,000 / 4,000 / 10,000 credits across its three plans; TradeZella includes 500 / 1,500 / 3,000 on Essential / Pro / Ultra as of August 2026. That's 2× to 3.3× the allowance, tier for tier, at a lower or equal price.

The bigger difference is what the AI is allowed to say. TerraAI computes every answer from live queries over your own journal, renders the actual charts and tables inline, and never invents a number — if it can't compute something, it says so. It has 35 tools, memory, and can edit your journal behind confirmation gates. TradeZella's Zella AI does weekly and monthly reviews, and their agents (Auto-Tagger, Session Review, Market Sentiment) are a real, shipping feature — but agent access is gated to Pro and Ultra, and how their answers are grounded isn't documented.

Where TradeZella wins#

Credit where due, because there's real credit here. TradeZella's 500+ broker integrations dwarf our nine. Their 300+ report count is the widest in the category. PropFirm Sync tracks prop-firm evaluations and funded accounts natively — TerraTrade has prop-firm risk rules in backtesting, not evaluation tracking in the journal. And their community layer — Zella University, Discord, Mentor Mode, shared playbooks — is something we simply don't compete with today. If you want a journal that comes with a curriculum and a crowd, that's them.

Questions you'd ask next#

How do the prices actually compare?

Monthly: TerraTrade $29 / $49 / $89 against TradeZella's $35 / $59 / $99 as of their July 2026 repricing. Annual: $26 / $44 / $80 against $26 / $44 / $74 — identical on the first two tiers, and TradeZella is $6/month cheaper on annual Ultra. Neither product has a free tier. Full details on our pricing page and theirs.

Can I move my TradeZella history to TerraTrade?

Yes, the ordinary way: export your trades, import them by CSV or file upload. The FIFO engine matches them like any other import, and because imports are idempotent you can re-run the file while you tune column mappings without ever creating duplicates. Broker-side, imports look back up to 15 years.

What's gated behind which TerraTrade plan?

Journaling — the FIFO engine, MAE/MFE, all 35 reports, dashboards, Terra Score, voice notes — is on every plan, with TerraAI included at 1,000 credits/month on Essential. Pro adds Trade Replay, 1-second data, BigQuery, and Deep AI models; Ultra adds AI Agents, Drills, and the Public API.
