TerraTrade supports two ways to import TopstepX futures: Auto-sync with a TopstepX username and API key, or File import with an Orders CSV. Auto-sync is best for an account you want to keep current; CSV is useful for a one-time import or a selected date range.

Option 1: connect TopstepX with auto-sync#

  1. Open the TerraTrade Import Center, choose Add broker, and select TopstepX.
  2. Under How should trades import?, select Auto-sync, then Continue.
  3. In TopstepX, open Settings → API Access and generate a key. Topstep's API Access walkthrough shows where to find the setting.
  4. Copy the key when TopstepX displays it. The key is shown once.
  5. In TerraTrade's Connect TopstepX screen, enter your required TopstepX username and API key, then select Continue.

Use the TopstepX username—not the email address used to sign in. TopstepX returns the same error for an email address that it returns for an invalid key, so this detail matters.

TerraTrade then opens Which accounts should we import? Every selected TopstepX account becomes a separate TerraTrade account with its own balance, trades, and pause control. Tradeable, non-simulated accounts are selected initially; practice or trading-disabled accounts are clearly labeled and can be selected deliberately.

Choose at least one account and select Connect account or Connect n accounts. When setup finishes, auto-sync runs on a schedule, or you can select Import now to begin immediately.

Option 2: import a TopstepX CSV#

The file route does not ask for a TopstepX username or API key.

  1. Choose TopstepX, then select File import under How should trades import?
  2. On Name this account, enter an optional Account nickname or keep the suggested TopstepX futures name.
  3. Select Continue to create the upload-only account.
  4. In TopstepX, open the Orders panel.
  5. Set the date range you want to import.
  6. Select the download icon and save the orders export as CSV.
  7. On Upload your trades, drop the CSV into the upload area or click it to choose the file, then select Import trades.

The file must end in .csv and may be up to 10 MiB. If it is larger, export a narrower date range. You can also select I'll upload later and use the account's Import tab when ready.

TerraTrade matches TopstepX rows by their broker identity, so uploading an overlapping file or the same export again does not count the same row twice.

Which TopstepX method should you use?#

Choose auto-sync when you want new fills to keep arriving without exporting files. Choose CSV when you do not want to connect an API key, need a specific historical range, or prefer to control exactly when data is uploaded. The two methods create different connection types, but imported trades land in the same TerraTrade journal.

TopstepX connection FAQ#

Should I enter my TopstepX email or username?

Enter the username shown by TopstepX, not your login email. The TopstepX username field is required alongside the API key.

Can I connect multiple TopstepX accounts?

Yes. The auto-sync account picker lists the accounts behind your credentials. Select the ones you want; each becomes a separate TerraTrade account rather than combining funded, evaluation, and practice results.

Will importing the same CSV create duplicate trades?

No. Re-uploading the same or an overlapping TopstepX export is safe because rows are matched using their broker identity before they are added.
